Psychic Café Picnic 16th August 2009

Denge Woods, Nr Chartham
On Sunday we woke up to beautiful sunshine, a good start to which was to be a perfect day.
Nestle in the North Downs of Kent, Denge Woods date back to the 1600’s, it is part of a semi-natural ancient wood complex, a few miles southwest of Canterbury. Dominated by sweet chestnut coppice, it stands alongside an area of former chalk grassland, known as The Warren, and this combination provides an interesting wildlife habitat.
We were greeted by Suzanne Corbie who was our speaker for the day.  Suzanne was part of an Alexandrian coven for over 20 years and has since worked with many different kinds of Wiccan traditions and druids, whose traditions closely resemble Wicca.  After ‘meet and greet’ Suzanne explained the energies of the nature spirits, how to call them, see them and work in harmony with their energy,  We were all sent to find wood and wild flowers to create a Fairy Ring.

Once inside the ring we ‘called’ upon the nature spirits, then Suzanne led us through a deep meditation.   The meditation was to guide us to a place in the woods where we would find our personal ‘magic wood’, Magical Wood is use to make wands and runes.   Just a few of the group had problems connecting with the energy, but as the meditation finished off we went to where we had been guided.   All returned with beautiful flowers and fallen branches, which we then identified and were able to read about their connections to healing, moon phases and significant part in wiccan practice.

After our picnic, each of us was lead in to a sacred place, where we made offerings to the Deva’s in the form of bird seed, fruit and flowers.

Everyone received something personal from the day, whether it be the energy, time away from daily life, relaxation or indeed, a memory in the form of the magical wood and flowers.
Roll on next year, we already have our thinking caps on for a great location.
